During the week of April 10-14, 2023, the Air Force Research Lab's Integrated Capabilities Directorate will host the 2023 Strategic Interchange Meetings (SIMs) at the General Jacob E. Smart Conference Center, Joint Base Andrews, MD. The classification level for this event will be Collateral SECRET.

Purpose:

The SIM informs Industry’s large, medium, and small businesses; academia; and national laboratories of the Department of the Air Force’s strategic direction, priorities, and challenges in many technical areas relevant to current and Future Force Capabilities, Technology Roadmaps, and Future Acquisition funding streams. This event will include presentations and discussions with the objective of positively informing future investments, Industry’s Corporate Investment Strategies, Independent Research & Development (IR&D) technology portfolios, and new or revised approaches to collaborating and partnering with Industry.

  • Gain connection to numerous DAF stakeholders and customers
  • Ability for you to network throughout the Department and with potential new industry partners

Registration & Preparation (closes on 10 March 2023):

* Due to the classification level, all attendees must possess at the minimum a SECRET Clearance. ** Participation in the SIM is by invitation only to U.S. Defense companies and DoD employees that complete the requirements below. Email invitations will be sent after 10 March.

Companies must complete the following not later than 10 March 2023:

  1. Register On-Line: https://einvitations.afit.edu
    Registration will close early if capacity limitations for the Smart Conference Center are reached before 10 March.
  2. Submit a Visit Request in DISS. Instructions are included in the registration link.
  3. A certified DD Form 2345, Military Critical Technical Data Agreement, is required for all participating companies. Certification will be verified using the company’s cage code entered on the registration form. If you wish to participate and do not already have a DD Form 2345, a guide to completing the form can be found here. Completion of this form may take up to four weeks. This phase will allow participants time to complete this process ahead of the SIM. Note: This approval process is outside the control of the AFRL Integrated Capabilities Directorate so please verify your current status and/or apply ASAP!

DoD Employees must complete the following not later than 10 March 2023:

  1. Register On-Line: https://einvitations.afit.edu
  2. Submit a Visit Request in DISS (if you possess an AFRL blue security badge a visit request is not required). Instructions are included in the registration link.

All subsequent updates and any additional information will only be posted to this Defense Innovation Marketplace website. Any key documents deemed of high importance to this dialogue with industry will be provided. Please note some government data distribution statements may vary, meaning some documents may be limited to U.S. Government Agencies
and/or Department of Defense (DoD) employees/contractors. Partnering with defense-experienced companies is strongly suggested for firms that do not fall within these categories.
